1. Milk Bottle Ghosts
This is a classic and fun Halloween milk bottle craft because there are so many variations and ways you can do it.
Essentially, you want to paint your bottle white and add black eyes and a mouth to the front.
If you don’t want to paint the bottle, just fill it with milk! It’s the perfect way to serve kids their milk and get them into the Halloween spirit.
There are a few ways you can make the ghost’s face. You can cut the ghost’s eyes and mouth out of black electrical tape, or glue construction paper onto the bottle.
2. Witches’ Brew Potions
This is another Halloween craft where you can really get creative. It’s perfect for parties, as you can serve up different colored drinks that look like creepy concoctions and potions right in the bottles.
With this craft, it’s all about the label. Wash and clean your bottles, and from there you’ve got a few options.
First, you could check the dollar store for potion labels in the Halloween decorations section. They might also be available at your local craft store.
Secondly, try getting crafty and drawing your own! It could be as simple as writing “witches’ brew” in white on black construction paper and attaching it to the bottle.
Lastly, you could always find some downloadable labels online if you just want to print something out and glue it on.
3. Glass Bottle Jack-O-Lantern
Make sure your bottles are nice and clean to make these milk bottle jack-o-lanterns.
Grab some orange oil-based enamel paint and give it a coat or two. Then, use black paint to give it whatever face you’d like. Let the kids choose their favorite faces.
For an added bonus, throw an LED candle into the bottom of the bottle and watch it glow through your masterpiece.
4. DIY Luminous Candy Jars
Turn your glass milk bottles into these classic Halloween candy jars, styled after your favorite classic monsters. These little creatures are perfect to make for a party, or just some decorations around the house.
For this one, you’ll need some mod podge, tissue paper, and a few other craft supplies. You’ll also need some LED lights to make sure they light up and emit a spooky glow.
Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to make them.
5. Ghost Terrarium
Milk bottle terrariums are a great DIY gift or decoration. So let’s put a spooky twist on it- make a Halloween milk bottle terrarium!
Get your hands on some Spanish moss. It’s sold in many craft stores, as well as the dollar store, and it adds the perfect spooky edge to your craft. Grab some twigs from your yard (or your neighbor’s) as well.
Layer dirt in the bottom of the milk bottle, then add the Spanish moss on top of the dirt.
Make little ghosts out of white gauze. Fasten the ghosts onto the twigs and secure them in the Spanish moss and dirt. Make sure they’re at different heights, as this will make them appear as if they’re floating.
6. Candy Corn Vases
These DIY candy corn bottle vases look just like the classic Halloween candy. They’re perfect for any festive occasion this month, even if you aren’t having a Halloween party per se.
Follow the tutorial to see how Dee M, the creator, does it. You’ll need yellow, orange, and white spray paint and a steady hand. Let the little kids sit out on this one until the paint is dry. They can put items in the vase to add finishing touches.
We recommend painting the entire bottle white before you do the layers of yellow and orange for the candy corn. It’ll make it easier to paint, and help the colors stand out more.
7. Milk Bottle Mummies
Grab some white cloth and wrap it around the empty bottle from top to bottom. If you don’t have that, use white medical tape, hockey tape, or anything else that’s white and can wrap around the bottle.
Then, all you need to do is stick some googly eyes on the front, and you’ve got a milk bottle mummy! Fill it with milk and serve it to the kids to make the white background even better.
8. Halloween Drip Jar
This Halloween drip mason jar craft from MomDot can easily be done on your glass milk bottles and looks awesome when finished! Follow her technique to get some amazing DIY Halloween decorations.
They make perfect vases for your Halloween party, but could be used for a variety of other things.
Try this one with the older kiddos as the painting could get a little messy with the little ones.
9. Spooky Centerpieces
If you’re throwing a Halloween party, this is one of the best Halloween crafts to make that will really add some spookiness to the room.
All you need to do is get some sticks from outside and spray paint them black. The best bet is to look for long branches that sprawl in different directions.
Place the painted sticks in your glass milk bottles and wrap some black netting around the outside of the bottle. Glue the netting in the middle to keep it on the bottle, and then wrap a black ribbon around the area you glued to hide it from view.
