Howling Cow | student-led excellence
NC State dairy processing began in the early 1900’s as a university research project and has evolved into Howling Cow, a premium ice cream brand celebrated for its farm-to-table process.
Every scoop is produced using milk from NC State’s own working dairy farm, offering students hands-on experience in dairy farming, foods processing, and agricultural business management. Stanpac partners with Howling Cow to supply a variety of its ice cream packaging, including bulk packaging for hand-scooped ice cream in its signature Stanpac cups.

Whitey’s Ice Cream was established in 1933 and purchased from its original owner- Chester “Whitey” Lindgren, by Bob Tunberg, who has worked at the shop since he was 15! Over the years Whitey’s has received considerable recognition for their exceptional ice cream, including “Best in the Midwest” from readers of Midwest Living Magazine and one of the “Best Ice Cream Shops in the World” by Condé Nast Traveler readers.Whitey’s is now co owned by Bob Tunberg’s sons, Jeff and Jon, continuing the legacy built on quality products, fair prices, and friendly staff. Toft’s Dairy | Ohio’s longest-running dairy
Toft’s Dairy is the oldest dairy in Ohio, producing quality products for over 126 years. Family owned since 1900 and spanning five generations, Toft’s sources its milk and cream from local, family-owned dairy farms to create unique and delicious ice cream flavours like black raspberry chocolate chip, pumpkin cheesecake, and blueberry waffle cone. And they don’t stop at ice cream, they also produce a variety of juices and flavoured milks.
Loved by the community across four locations in Ohio, Toft’s continues to bring iconic ice cream flavours and happy memories to their customers. Toft’s Dairy was one of the first customers to use Stanpac’s paper non-round lid—a sustainable, fully recyclable alternative to traditional plastic composite lids.
OATLY | THE PLANT-BASED FROZEN DESSERT WITH PLANT-BASED PACKAGING
Oatly’s frozen dessert is making quite the impact with their plant-based product coming in – you guessed it – plant-based packaging!
In 2020, Oatly made the conscious decision to introduce their frozen dessert to the world in packaging that focused on sustainability. Sentinel™ is a first of its kind; eco-friendly paper-based packaging made with an innovative renewable coating derived from sugarcane. At Stanpac, we are thrilled to offer Sentinel™ Renewable Ice Cream Packaging in our product line up.
Sentinel™ paperboard is also made from virgin fibre, certified by SFI (the Sustainable Forestry Initiative), meaning the trees that were used to make the packaging come from responsibly managed forests.
